Why yes. Digital Ocean was my first choice. But OVH was cheaper. Eventually we’ll move it to DO or Google Cloud.
Why buy a server, for hosting just a forum and a website??!!!

Because it’s easier to maintain, deploy and more secure.
Also the discourse forum uses quite a bit of resources.
